Volunteer Needs |
| Looking
for truck drivers and
crew to help collect donated
furniture on Mondays
and Thursdays.

| Warehouse
Positions: |
| |
•
Greeter
– Meet and welcome
donors at the garage door,
help them unload their
donations, and provide
them with the appropriate
handout materials.
•
Sorter
– Sort through donated
items and check that they
are in good condition.
Then, put the items on
the shelves, so they are
ready for families to
take home!
Volunteers
may also help us prepare
for client families by
cleaning/dusting furniture
and household items, sweeping
the warehouse, and vacuuming
client waiting area. |

Care Positions: |

Client
Aid – Assist
Sharing Connections’
clients as they tour the
warehouse to select their
furniture. Client Aids
do not assist families
in loading their vehicles!
•
Referral
and Information Specialist
(RIS) –
Meet with the client families
to asses their needs and
eligibility for basic
community programs and
services. RIS volunteers
also transcribe phone
messages and answer some
phone calls. |

Positions: |

Data
Entry - Help
enter client information,
volunteer hours, and more
on a weekly or biweekly
basis.

Mail
Crew - Help stuff
and label envelopes and
newsletters for mass mailings.

Committee
Member –
Help plan and prepare
our fundraising events.

Special
Event Helpers
– Sell raffle tickets
at the event, help with
set up, or man registration
tables.

Volunteer Jobs: |

Truck
Crew –
Drive (or sit shotgun)
on our truck to pick up
donated furniture from
the suburbs surrounding
Downers Grove and unload
it at our warehouse. To

Group
Volunteer Opportunities
- Groups of up to 15 people
can work in the warehouse.
These groups must schedule
their time in advance
by contacting the volunteer
coordinator. Groups
can also volunteer by
collecting items needed
through a goods drive,
or they can do a service
project. |
